Horatio Hedgehog needs the Adventure Tots help. His house blew away and now he has nowhere to sleep!
Here is the story if you would like to read it to your Adventure Tot yourself:
The Adventure tots were all standing in Professor Squozz’s treehouse after receiving a message that the Professor needed their help solving a problem.
The Professor had been visited by his good friend Horatio Hedgehog. Horatio was just getting ready for bed when he discovered that his leaf pile was not where he left it! It blew away in the wind and he can’t sleep without his cosy leaf pile.
Where was Horatio supposed to sleep now?
There was only one thing for it. Professor Squozz needed the Adventure Tots to find out what had happened to Horatio’s leaves and find a way to help him sleep.
Could the Tots do it?
Fully prepared with their backpack full of tools, theyheaded out into the forest.
Seeing a beautiful open path in front of them the Tots set off, looking up at the beautiful blue sky and the trees reaching high up above them.
They continued to walk through the forest, getting quicker in excitement to try and complete the quest. Which leaves to choose for Horatio? How would they know?
Deeper in the forest the adventurers found themselves surrounded by all kinds of trees. Trees with big red leaves. Trees with small green leaves. Trees with prickly needles.
Instantly, they agreed that prickly needles were not the way to go.
Approaching the tree with small green leaves, they noticed that none of those leaves were on the ground. It’s not cool to take living leaves from a tree, so that one isn’t right.
Moving closer to a tree with triangular shaped yellow leaves the Tots notice lots of little cute bugs living in amongst the branches, making this tree their home. The Tots decided to move on.
Next was the tree with big red leaves. Those leaves look so warm and cosy, just right for a hedgehog home! Underneath the tree were piles and piles of leaves that had already fallen.
The Adventure Tots got to work, collecting as many leaves as they possibly could and stuffing them into canvas bags the Professor had given them for their trip. They collected so many leaves, the bed for Horatio was going to be like a hedgehog mansion!
That might be enough leaves now, they thought, tired from their effort but laughing and playing all the while.
Only one thing left to do. Where is the best place for a hedgehog bed? We know it has to be sheltered so that it won’t blow away in the wind, but it should also be somewhere nice to look at so that Horatio loves spending time there.
And then the Tots saw the perfect spot. Walking slightly beyond the trees they found a small cave and the mouth of the cave faced towards a serene glen next to the slow flowing river. Dragonflies danced around the reeds and the sunlight glistened off the surface. The cave would make an amazing place for Horatio’s new bed!
They piled the big red leaves high inside the cave. Lots of space for Horatio to get cosy. Happy with the home they had made, they headed back to Professor Squozz’s treehouse and told the Professor and Horatio the good news.
“Oh that sounds perfect!” said Horatio, a hedgehog smile beaming across his hedgehog face. “I can’t wait to get in that pile of big red leaves and get some serious sleep! Thank you Adventure Tots!” and then Horatio slowly shuffled out towards the forest.
Amazing work Adventure Tots! Another mini-quest complete!
